Ok, I got it
Twilight is an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she’s ever met. Intelligent and witty, he sees straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than a mountain lion, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands - and he hasn’t aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he’s immortal. But he doesn’t have fangs, and he doesn’t drink human blood; Edward and his family are unique among vampires in their lifestyle choice. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for - a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward & Bella do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) and Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), the Cullens’ mortal vampire enemies, come to town, looking for her?

In April 2004, Paramount’s MTV Films optioned Twilight, but then developed a script that bore little resemblance to it. (It featured night-vision goggles and transformed Bella into a hip track star.) ‘’They could have put that movie out, called it something else, and no one would have known it was Twilight,’’ Meyer says. Fortunately for devout fans of the book, Paramount put the project into turnaround. (Entertainment Weekly)

The screenplay is by Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter, The OC, Birds of Prey) and it’s directed by Catherine Hardwick (Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown).

Author Stephenie Meyer says she saw the novel as a film the whole time she was writing it and claims that the film is everything fans love about the book.

When Summit Entertainment reinvented itself as a full-service studio in April 2007, it began development of a film adaptation of the 2005 vampire novel Twilight written by Stephenie Meyer, having picked up the rights from Paramount Pictures in a turnaround.   (Hollywood Reporter)

The company perceived the film as an opportunity to launch a franchise based on the success of Meyer’s book and its sequels.   The following October, Catherine Hardwicke was hired to direct the film with Melissa Rosenberg writing the script. (Variety)

Hardwicke and Rosenberg collaborated on the screenplay, completing it over the course of six weeks. (Entertainment Weekly)

Early in pre-production, Stephenie Meyer was quoted saying “Summit’s vision of the Twilight movie continues to dovetail very closely with mine, and I’m comforted to know that my “baby” is in the right hands.” (FanForum.com)

Robert Pattinson’s audition consisted of a love scene with Kristen Stewart on Hardwicke’s bed. (EW.com)

Production began in February, 2008 lasted until May 2, 2008. (Film School Rejects)

One main factor leading to shooting in Portland was the fact that Portland the skies are often overcast. (Entertainment Weekly)

Kalama High School serves as the primary setting for the school in the book, having been chosen over Forks High School itself. (Penninsula Daily News)

Other scenes were also filmed in St. Helens, Oregon. (Spotlight News)

Catherine Hardwicke compares the film to Romeo and Juliet and Titanic, and the story of love between two people who shouldn’t be together intrigued her.

Muse will be on the soundtrack as well as a track from actor Robert Pattinson.

Hardwicke revealed that “Supermassive Black Hole,” a song by alternative rock band Muse, would be included at a key heartbreaking moment in the film. Hardwicke said they may edit the song to give it “a little bit of extra Twilight stuff to fit the scene”. (MTV)

Author Stephenie Meyer has a cameo in the film.   Meyer’s cameo takes place at a diner, during a quiet moment. (MTV)

“Everyday we just tried to make the best movie we could,” says Hardwicke over the screams for Robert Pattinson at the San Diego Comic-Con panel.

The studio hopes to create a series of at least three films based on Meyer’s books. (MTV)
IT'S OFFICIAL: Alternative Rock band trio, Muse, will be on the Twilight Soundtrack. Hardwicke revealed in an interview with MTV that Muse will be included on the CD. (the song was later revealed to be "Supermassive Black Hole") Hardwicke said that they may record a remix of the song to give it "a little bit of extra Twilight stuff to fit the scene". She also stated that two songs written by Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward, will be included on the soundtrack as well.
